Monique Lhuiller is best known for her couture bridal collections and red-carpet worthy evening gowns. Since her designs will be featured in the Symphony Spring Fashion Show at the Schermerhorn, I think my Nashville Fab Folks should know all about this talented designer.
She was raised in the southern part of the Philippines. Her parents were French and Filipino and as a young lady she was influenced by her mother’s glamorous sense of style. In addition, her fashion sense was heightened as her family traveled frequently. Monique left home at 15 to attend boarding school in Switzerland. While there she realized her dream to become a designer. After graduating she moved to LA and attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.
While in fashion school she met her husband and co-designer Tom Bughbee. By 1996 Monique launched her first bridal collection. The critics loved it. The duo decided to open a fashion house. In 2001, Monique designed her first evening collection – which ha now become a successful ready-to-wear line. The collections are always luxurious, feminine, modern and chic, true to Monique’s innovative fashion sense.
The Monique Lhuillier line is heralded by retailers and fashionable celebrities for her design and quality. The collections are available at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom. The entire collections are housed in the Monique Lhuillier flagship salons in Beverly Hills and Minneapolis.
Monique Lhuillier creations have been worn by Reese Witherspoon, Angelina Jolie, Jessica Alba, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston, Sharon Stone, Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria, Britney Spears, Mischa Barton, Jaime-Lynn Sigler, Sarah Jessica Parker and more.
