Nashville Fashion Week: Can ‘regular’ people attend??

Last week I everyone was asking me “What to wear to Nashville Fashion Week?” Hopefully I answered the question and gave some comfort to those who’ll be attending the event for the first time.
This week the biggest question  was, “What is there for regular people to do?”
From this question I gather readers and fashion fans want to know how can they participate in the festivity of Fashion Week without the costs or the time commitment. Many readers have to work during the week. That, surely, takes away from enjoying attending a runway show every night. Also, the ticket prices may be steep for some, $75 for nightly shows and $350 for a one-week pass (however, it’s worth it!).
Below, I’ve assembled some fun things to do that a)Don’t cost too much, and  b)Are interesting and fashion related.
INDUSTRY PANELS and Discussions – FREE – presented by imogene+willie
Last year, I really enjoyed the industry panels.  People tend to get overwhelmed by the dazzle of the fashion industry, but never realize the work it takes to become famous and noteworthy. The industry panels give an eye-opening discussion about different aspects of the industry. You can attend, but you must register online.

Spring 2012 Fashion Show featuring Tim Gunn (1pm), presented by The Mall at Green Hills – FREE
Last year, I had the pleasure of seeing Tim Gunn host a fashion show and it was everything you think it would be. His personality (funny and amazing) and his knowledge are legendary. This is an event for the whole family to enjoy.
Tim Gunn, fashion industry expert, renowned co-host and mentor of Project Runway, co-host of The Revolution and Chief Creative Officer of LCI, will debut the Juicy Couture, kate spade new york and Lucky Brand Jeans Spring 2012 collections in a live runway show on March 24 at The Mall at Green Hills as part of Lexus Nashville Fashion Week 2012.

Gunn will serve as the fashion show’s host and will speak to guests about the importance of style, proportion and fit. After the fashion show, Gunn will take questions from the audience in an open forum Q&A.

“It’s important that Fashion Week takes place in cities across the country, not just in New York City. Nashville has developed its own version of Fashion Week supporting local talent, and I’m thrilled to be part of it,” said Gunn.
