It’s that time again! Derby time! If you are in the south you’ve attended a derby or steeplechase at least once. It’s a fun time to be totally over dressed to have a fancy picnic next to some horses that may be running in a circle. But for real, the horse races are super -fun, and the Tennessee Iroquois Steeplechase is no exception. Last year I got to attend the races and have lots of fun. Next time I go, I’ll definitely get my friends to come along so we can set up a big tent with lots of food.
Anyway, you came here for the clothes. What to wear to a steeplechase, derby, or horse race? I got you covered. This year, there supposed to be off and on rain showers. But don’t let that stop you. I’ve created three looks that will keep you cute and classy even in the mud!

With the yucky weather, you are gonna want to take an umbrella. But no one said it has to be an ugly umbrella. Find one that matches your look and sing in the rain. And, yes, flat shoes are the name of the game. No one wants to spend the day sinking their stiletto heals in the mud.
This cute look is anchored by even more cute and bold Hunter boots. Any southern girl worth her weight in grits owns a cute pair of Hunter rain-boots. Matching your boots with a classic sundress will be great way to be comfy, cute, and race-day ready.
This is a classic derby look whether ran or shine. Never forget the hat and never be afraid to add ultra-girly details. The flat shoe, with pointed toe, will give you the look of stilettos but with more comfort.
Have fun at the races! Make sure to snap lots of pictures!
