Thanksgiving Weekend is arguably one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year. With Black Friday starting the race, and Cyber Monday bringing up the tail-end, big retailers found a way to get in everyone’s pockets. However, small business entrepreneurs realized this is the time for them to shine too. American Express created Small Business Saturday as a way for consumers to spend money on small businesses.

This trend caught on quickly and customers started to like the idea of spending money on places that offer small inventory, exclusive, and one-of-a-kind purchases. Add to that, the store/business being local, and you are helping the economy in a major way. For every LOCAL dollar you spend, $.52 of that STAYS in your city! 

Below, I’ve selected eight of my favorite local small businesses for you to shop at. I choose theses businesses because they have an online & local presence. Take a look: 
Violet Flower Boutique – Located in Germantown, this luxury boutique offers clothes from London, Paris, and LA. Most looks aren’t found in Nashville. Yolanda, the owner only offers limited selections of each size so you look won’t be repeated around town. 
Boutique J. Renee is a new online boutique that serves the total woman. Clothes and Hair, Boutique J. Renee is hosts trendy looks seen on all the celebrities.
Phatkaps is a Nashville staple! It’s been around for more than 20 years and the offer exclusive selections of amazing lifestyle brands. This is a great place to shop for you boyfriend, especially if he loves to dress hip & trendy.
Styles Boutique is online and in Nashville and it’s Nashville’s ONLY plus-size boutique! They offer trendy looks in affordable prices. As with any boutique, the small inventory will ensure you are the only one to rock this look.
Jazzy Nash Shoes is Nashville’s first mobile shoe-tique! You can find the purple shoe truck at local events and festivals. Jazzy Nash Shoes offers looks in sizes 5-11, with accessories too! 
All Things Curly is an amazing online spot for great natural hair products. It’s sort of a boutique for hair. Each brand featured in the All Things Curly boutique is a small business, privately owned, and most times organic.
PaperKuts Studio offers the best in original stationary and small gifts. PLUS this local shop is right next to Cupcake Collection, so you can get a gift for a friend and a cupcake for yourself.
Project615 combines cool apparel/t-shirt with philanthropic goals. Percentages of each purchase go to non-profit organizations in Nashville and around the country.
Kream is an online boutique based in Nashville that offers trendy accessories for on the go ladies. The selections of shoes and sunglasses is very lust-worthy.
