MY STYLE: ‘Come and Talk to Me’ -#JodeciAppreciationDay!

I know you see the date and, yes, I am posting this on Valentine’s Day. But, on fabglance.com it’s Jodeci Appreciation Day! About three years ago, I decided that the r&b group Jodeci should get way more love than we give them. I mean, if you were a black teen in the 90’s, did you NOT play ‘Forever My Lady‘ on insane levels? Did you NOT lose your biscuits when Diddy dropped the ‘Come and Talk to Me – Remix‘? And remember when a pregnant T-Boz (from TLC) made a cameo in the ‘Love You 4 Life‘ video? Ok! So, they deserve a day, and Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to show Jodeci some love!

Last year’s #JodeciAppreciationDay song was, ‘My Heart Belongs to You‘. I dedicated it to all my Fab Family! I’m so happy to have readers and supporters who are interested in this #BloggerLife and support my endeavors. This year’s song selection is, ‘Come and Talk to Me’, and it’s dedicated to my crush. Y’all, I have a crush and it’s driving my banana-sandwich!

I’ve been watching you
For so very long
Trying to get my nerve built up to be so strong

I’ve never been very bold when it comes to love. I’ve never been afraid off a job, an idea, or even a clothing selection. But, ooh girl, bring up a love interest and I recoil like a scared turtle. It’s the fear of rejection that gets me! And, I know that we ALL get rejected sometimes, and ‘what God has for you is for you’. But, girl, listen, don’t nobody want to deal with a broken heart like that.

But, my word for the year is ‘courage’, and sooner (rather than later) I will get the nerve to tell ol’boy my feelings. I mean, I’m a catch, I know this. I just have to get over the fear-factor. I could be missing out on the love of my life due to some temporary embarrasment! That would be crazy!

I wish I could grab you
Tell you what it means to me
To see you walking by my way
It really makes my day

This leads to a deeper conversation; what would you do if your weren’t afraid? I know this is a Valentine’s Day post, but it’s a word for everyone. Even those of you in relationships, are you holding back on loving your partner because of fear? You trying to take your situationship to the next level? You thinking about marriage? Or, are you ready to leave? What’s stopping you? Don’t let fear be the reason why you don’t succeed.

My friends, let’s all agree to live boldy! Go and talk to that person you’ve had your eye on. Go for that job you think you can’t get. Take a scary step in your life and watch your life change. Good or bad – you’ll always learn!

Christmas look

The first look is for my Party-Hopper! If you live in Nashville, there’s a ton of church events, roof top parties, music events, and even fireworks, to help you celebrate the New Year. This look gives you a bit of chic and a bit of comfort. When you reach your final destination, you’ll look super cute and be ready to kick it with your friends!

So, you and your honey going out for a New Year’s Eve date? You gotta give your partner a lil bit of SEXY! This velvet dress and fur jacket are just the look for a night on the town. Plus, there’s tons of new restaurants to try, which are hosting NYE specials too. Add an extra bit of glam, then dance the night away!

Ok ladies, let’s get in formation! You know I’m always ready for an all-black look. This sparkling look and tough but sassy jacket are just the look for the hottest party in town. Keep it flirty and fun, then party until you can’t walk the next morning!

Of course I had to give you a bonus look! This is for my ladies going to see the ball drop. Ladies, it’s all about LAYERS! The forecast is set to freezing, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. Also, can someone get me that Louis Vuitton clutch for an after-Christmas gift? That would be awesome!

So, Happy New Year, from Fabglance! I’ve already said that 2018 is not the year of the glow-up, it’s the year of RESTORATION! Get ready to find what you lost. Let’s celebrate!

Christmas is one of my favorite holidays, so I make sure celebrate with family and friends. This year has been tough, but it’s only made me stronger. No matter how tough the year has been, you must celebrate the fact that you MADE IT! You MADE it! Don’t worry about the bills, our what someone sad about you, or what you lost. Just celebrate the fact that you are stronger because of these challenges.

Hello December! I barely made it!

Hello December! And hello FAB family! Thank you so much for being patient with me. I’ve had some major changes in my life so I had to step away for a moment. I’m still adjusting to my new work life and family upheaval, so I cant promise you new posts every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, but I can promise you some cool stuff at least one a week.

Now, I do have some cool stuff coming up! Your girl secured some brand partnerships that I’m sure your gonna love! Just let the contracts get signed and you’ll see the fruits of my labor. Oh yeah, I got some cool photo shoots in the bag too. And finally, the BOOK! The book is done and it will launch this month! Lawd!

Oh, yeah, it’s the holiday season! I’m feeling that Christmas-y but I must celebrate. I mean, it’s the most wonderful time of the year! And, things could be worse, right?

So, even though some things are still a bit wonky, I’m working through my challenges. I have faith that life is gonna get better and I’ll keep a smile on my face until that time!

What To Wear: Inspired by Halloween Movie Villains!

I swear, every year people impress me with their amazing Halloween costumes. Every year I say I’m going to do a banging costume and  . . . that never happens. BUT, that doesn’t mean I can give you some FAB outfit inspiration for Halloween. This year, I decided to get inspired by scary movie villains. Plot Twist, I never watch scary movies BUT I love costume design. Below, I picked three looks inspired by Halloween’s scariest villains. Add the makeup and take these looks to the next level! Let’s get started:

Freddy’s Dead . . . Sexy!

Of course I had to start with the Iconic, Freddy Krueger! Growing up, Nightmare on Elm Street was the scariest movie you could watch . . . with the lights on. LOL! Anytime you see that iconic striped shirt, you know what it’s all about. I took Freddy’s iconic stripes to inspire you to step up your Halloween look. It’s sexy and a bit scary at the same time.

Raise Hell . . . Look Cute

The next look is another super scary villain from the 80’s . . . Hellraiser! Dude, as soon as I saw that guy with the pins in his head, I was DONE! I think I made it through about 30 minutes of the movie and I was DONE! However, doesn’t mean I can’t get inspired by Hellraiser‘s patent leather trench look and hardware inspire tortured face.

Checkin in on Chucky

Last but not least, I had to give a nod to our boy Chucky! Listen, Child’s Play was a movie I could watch because it was HILARIOUSLY scary! I mean, a doll, possessed? Laughable. But he’s iconic. I wanted to go full denim, but went with these black overalls, but kept his iconic stripped shirt, sneakers, and knife. This look is cute  . . . but you’ll be a killer! LOL! Also, can I just have these sneakers?! Right!

I Want Candy

Ok, so you know I had to do a regular-degular-schmegular look because this is definitely what I’ll be wearing this Wednesday. Hey, the Candy Lady has to look cute too.  Can I have this Louis Vuitton fanny pack tho? I swear I’ll put candy in their for the kids!

So, which look inspires you the most? Let me know in the comments section!

WHAT TO WEAR: Tracee Ellis Ross JCPENNEY Holiday Collection

People! This is not a drill! The most stylish woman on TV, Tracee Ellis Ross (Joan from Girlfriends and Bow from blackish) is releasing a HOLIDAY FASHION COLLECTION with JCPenney! Get your coins together, because just like Rihanna’s FENTY BEAUTY collection, all the girls will line up for this!

As I type, Tracee is releasing looks from the upcoming, November 12th, drop. So far we’ve seen four looks. The company and Tracee have delcalred these pieces as affordable and SIZE INCLUSIVE! That’s right kids, from a small to a 3xl, you can have a bit of Tracee’s style in your life!

Tracee’s style is well documented. She’s appeared in all types of magazines and continues to slay the red carpet … and when she’s just going to get coffee. She dresses her body well, mixes hi/lo, vintage, and trends, plus she has curves and isn’t afraid to show them. She’s a perfect collaborator for JCPenney, a company that was once America’s store for home and fashion.

Since she’s working with JCPenney, I’m hoping this won’t sell-out immediately. But it is a holiday capsule collection which means its available for a limited time. November 12th is a month away, prices range from $9-$75. I can’t wait to see how everyone styles their Tracee looks! There’s something for everyone’s style: boho, chic, trendy, and classic. I’m going up for that sparkle dress! Yes honey!

Follow Tracee and JCPenney on instagram for exclusive photos and more details.
