Last week, I was invited by California Closets Nashville as a VIP Guest to the Nashville Parade of Homes! The Parade of Homes is an annual event that allows guests to see the latest home design trends created by the regions best builders and interior designers. California Closets created a $45,000 closet for one of the homes, and were the first to view the creation. Y’all! These homes were more than amazing. They were dream-worthy.
The tour definitely gave me some GOALS to think about. I want to build a home so that I can host my friends and family. The Nashville Parade of Homes introduced me to interior design trends I hadn’t seen before: Bunk rooms, Digital Spaces, and Embroidered Walls! Can someone just give me one of these houses, fully furnished? No? I gotta work for it? UGH!
The 35th Annual African Street Festival, created by the African American Cultural Alliance, celebrates all things from the diaspora. From amazing performances to international vendors, the weekend event brings out the best in black Nashville and allows us to feel one with out African heritage. I love showing you sides of Nashville that don’t include country music. Truthfully, Nashville is becoming quite the cultural melting pot as we have more than 100 new residents arriving to the city everyday! Check out this amazing event, held in Hadley Park, right at the foot of Historic Jefferson Street.
My sister and I decided to go to the festival on the last night. Truthfully, it’s the best night to get awesome deals from the vendors. Also, Sunday night is a great night to see the crowning performances. This year, we had the pleasure of seeing the Sankofa Drum & Dance Company. The legendary troupe gave the audience an amazing 45 minute performance that boasted complex drum routines, exciting dance performances, and inspirational crowd participation.
Of course I had to give you some VLOG coverage. During my visit I scored a pair of cool sunglasses and my annual container of PREMIUM Shea butter! I’m so mad I wasn’t able to get my favorite Jamaican meat & three, but I was so happy I supported this important event. Like I said, Nashville is more than country music and cowboy boots. There are tons of cultural events that discuss the various parts of the world. Now that these world residents are living in our city, we must make sure to celebrate our differences.
Have you attended the African Street Festival in Nashville? What is your favorite part of the fest? Let me know in the comments section!
On September 16th, Ashley Stewart will select it’s newest campaign model! Last month, I got to be a judge in the Finding Ashley Stewart Model Search here in Nashville. More than 100 ladies from Nashville and surrounding cities strutted their stuff in Green Hills Galleria. We selected two amazing ladies to represent Nashville, Saaneah and Theresa.
The finalists will be awarded a one year contract to model for Ashley Stewart clothing stores. And, there’s talks that Ashley Stewart will return to Nashville in 2018! You know I’ll keep you posted. So, take a look at the VLOG below and see all the beautiful plus-size women show their beautiful selves on the runway!
I almost forgot to post last week’s VLOG! My goal is to give you a new video every week. I love sharing parts of my life with you and living in Nashville as well. You know, because Nashville is POPPING right now. Anyway, this week’s VLOG documents me going to the Urban Soul CafeAll-White Worship Experience and attending the Jefferson Street Art Crawl.
Last week I was invited to cover the Red Carpet for the 2017 Black Music Honors! Listen, I’m not gonna front, your girl was kinda hype! I’ve met a couple of celebrities in my life, the best of which was Whitney Houston (maybe I’ll do a YouTube video about that), so it’s hard for me to get too hype about talented people. But, the Black Music Honors, is an amazing new program that celebrates the achievements of black people in black music. When we get the chance to honor each other on a large stage, we should really be happy about it.
That’s why I dusted off my camera skills and hopped on that red carpet. Back in the old days of FabGlance (when I was Fab Glance Nashville) I covered way more celebrity stories, events, and red carpets. Don’t let the smooth taste fool you, I love me some celebrity gossip but there’s more than enough outlets that cover gossip. But, when I have the chance to cover celebs doing amazing things (and I can be there in person), I gotta be on that carpet!
Last month, I got to attend the TCFStyle Expo presented by Marie Denee of The Curvy Fashionista. This plus-size style convention is held annually in Atlanta (one of my fave cities!). It’s part shopping event and part motivational event. This was the second year, and from what I heard, it was BIGGER and better than ever. Guess what? I vlogged! Yes, and there’s a whole video on my YouTube Channel, but you can watch below!
Have you attended a plus-size meet-up? Well, I’m hosting one in Nashville in October! The Nashville Curves Plus Size Meet-Up is gonna be our chance to present amazing curvy confidence in Nashville! Pre-sale tickets are available NOW! Let’s get excited!
Hey everyone! Guess who’s sticking to her posting schedule and attempting to give you all the content! YA! This week, we have new VLOG! Follow me to the Stay on the Go Magazine, Black ’40 under 40′ awards. I will continue to thank you for voting for me to win this award. It felt really good to be acknowledged by my peers. It’s only upward from here.
