| Handmade sterling silver turquoise ring – purchase |
A simple tweet last week led me to a great fab find – I had to share it with you. Last week I was complaining about not being able to find ‘tall’ jeans. Someone responded with the name @chicmetal. One tweet led to another and I was clicking the link to Victoria Tillotson’s jewelry website. One look at the earrings below, and I was in love.

Victoria is not only a talented jewelry designer who had her work featured in Essence Magazine, Lucky, and Allure, she is a teacher, author, mom, and oh yeah, she happens to have a PhD. She’s been designing jewelry since she was in her early 20’s. She uses sterling silver, bronze, gemstones, and abstract shapes. Her jewelry allows the wearer to embrace their originality.

I enjoy the technical aspects and make pieces which are very precise. I am driven by a persistent desire to make bold, unusual forms that make people stare. I love gigantic colored gemstones and anything ridiculously over-sized.- Victoria Tillotson, 2010
Victoria’s Jewelry should find a place in your personal collection. Each piece is definitely a work of art. The jewelry is sold in several boutiques across America. You can also purchase her jewelry at her shop on Etsy: www.etsy.com/shop/chicmetal. And yes, her pieces are easily affordable, falling under $100.
Lastly, if you are interested in the art of jewelry making, pick up Victoria’s book, Chic Metal, available on Amazon.com.
