Nashville Fashion Week 2013: The Locales

The best thing about Nashville Fashion Week  is the way the event spotlights the city. The biggest question on everyone’s mind is, “Where will Nashville Fashion Week going to be held at – what venues?”

While New York Fashion Week is primarily help in one location, the committee that plans Nashville Fashion Week scouts locales all over the city to give patrons the optimum experience. In the past runway shows were held at historical venues (Nashville Arcade, 2011), newly minted hot spots (Marathon Music Works, 2012), and non-traditional places that one wouldn’t think to have a show (Crystal Fountain Church, 2011). This year, the committee has picked another host of FAB fly locations to introduce us to fashion, check it out:

Day 1 – Tuesday, Opening Night, will start at Nashville’s Pinnacle Building at Symphony Place – Designers showing on the first night include:  Kal Rieman, Red Doll, Nonoo, Plenty by Tracy Reese, and Tracy Reese. The opening nigh party will be held at Pub5 – 104 5th Ave S, Nashville, Tennessee 37204.

Day 2 – Wednesday,  will start with Nashville Fashion Week’s industry panels. The industry panels are an integral part of the NFW experience helping build Nashville’s fashion community and educating attendees. This year’s topic include: How to Build a Fashion Brand, Selling Fashion in Nashville, and Selling the Image, Branding. The panels will be held at Emma’s Bistro on Lea Avenue.

The evening’s runway shows will be held at Trolley Barns at Rolling Mill Hill. This once eyesouce reminder of a past industrial area has been redesigned and filled with new condos, retail and restaurants. Designers for the nigh include TUFT, Pink Elephant Designs, Black by Maria Silver, T. Rains, Kat Seato.

Day 3- Thursday,  flips the scene and gives us runway shows at Belmont Mansion in the morning followed by an exclusive Tea Luncheon at blvd (the newest culinary creation opened by Arnold Myint). Designers showing in the AM will be Memeka by Gustavo Cadile, Modern Troussea.

Patrons of NFW get to enjoy Nashville’s shopping destinations during Nashville SHOPS and Shopping Night Out. Nashville Shops presented by The Mall at Green Hills will feature shopping discounts through out the mall and participating retailers.  That night Shopping Night Out is presented by The Gulch. Patrons will get a chance to enjoy a celebratory event at Pine Street Flats in The Gulch followed by an after party at Kocktails & Kouture.

Day 4 – Friday – Friday brings us back to the night life. The runway shows will start at 7pm at Grand Avenue Worldwide (186 N. First St.). This spot for limosine services will be transformed into a avant-garde runway show space. One thing Nashville Fashion Week is good for is taking an unknown space and turning it into a FAB situation. Designers showing that night are SAND, Leona, Lagi Nadeau, Abi Ferrin.

Day 5 – Saturday – The week ends with my favorite showcase of the week, The Emerging Designers Showcase at the Anthem Bar/Restuarant in the Gulch. Each year the NFW committee selects several upcoming designers to present their collections to the visiting audience. Last year’s presentations surprised attendees with an art inspired demonstration. Who knows what this years presentation will entail. Not to mention, the emerging designers will be mentored by Project Runway participant, Mychal Knight!

So there you have it. Five distinctive venues offering various outlooks on Nashville’s growing community. If you’ve bought your ticket, you are in for an EXCELLENT event. Get your outfits ready!
