3 WAYS to wear white after Labor Day

(Updated, 9/4/2016)

It’s the style question that never dies. Matter of fact, I think I’ve answered here and here but I wanted to show you some illustrations on how to wear white after Labor Day, especially if you live in a warm climate. Living in Tennessee, I know it’s so hard to transition – I have the answers for you and some examples.

Remember, white represents rebirth, vitality, and life – that’s why summer clothes are light and airy. Traditional summer looks like: sundresses, linen pants, sandals, pumps, and wedges, need to go into storage. But staple items can stay in your rotation, like:

  • blouses/cardigans
  • t-shirts
  • white jeans
  • some casual wear
  • some accessories

Let’s get started:

#OOTD: Royal Behavior

What you have to remember, when wearing white after Labor Day, is all about adding more fall colors to your look. You can’t wear ALL WHITE (you’re not on a boat) but adding your fave white piece to a fall ensemble works. Like, these cute white cut-off shorts paired with these fall accessories. You barely notice the WHITE shorts but you do notice the trendy accessories. PLUS, if you live in a warm climate, this look is perfect to rock at school or on the weekend.

TREND ALERT: CHIC backpacks are the way to go for Fall!

#OOTD: Longline Love

This next look is all about classic pieces that give the illusion of fall but the crispness of summer. This is the perfect way to transition. Navy Blue is the HOT color for Fall 2015. These mules will give you a chic updated looks to a regular button-down shirt and boyfriend jeans.

THE TREND: The fold-over clutch is so  . . . CLUTCH!

#OOTD: Transition Tranquility

Above is my favorite way to dress for fall, especially when the climate continues to be warm. Find summer cuts BUT in FALL colors!!! YES! The bodycon dress, the gladiator sandal, and the Kimono can all be worn in the Fall. But, finding the items in these colors makes you look more ON TREND, climate chic, and transitionally trendy!

THE TREND:  Wine colored make-up is still hot. Not a fan of wine/dark lips, try a dark oxblood nail polish.

As I’ve said before, you can follow fashion rules or you can break them. There’s no set answer, but no matter what, make sure to look hip and up to date.
