Chante Moore is the national spokesperson for Dollar General’s BeautyCents magazine |
Last Saturday, I was invited to be a blogger ambassador for the Dollar General Day of Beauty. Using the hashtag, #DGBeauty, the event was set up to introduce Dollar General’s customers to their new expanded multicultural beauty department. Dollar General is headquartered in TN, so it was only fitting that they invited Tennessee bloggers to the event. It was such a special event for the women of Nashville, helping to spread the word of quality and affordable beauty care items now available in the store.

Free to the public and tons of free samples! |
Part natural hair meetup, part beauty convention, the Day of Beauty hosted several national brands, several national hair & beauty bloggers, and lots of free samples. It was just the perfect time for women to get to know the new face of Dollar General. This company plans on making sure you can find beauty items at really affordable prices.

The Dollar General booth was a favorite, stocked to the brim with products |
The Dollar General team was SUPER helpful. The company had a booth set up to introduce shoppers to Dollar General brand items. Full size items were available for visitors to collect. If you had any doubts on the quality of the Dollar General brand of beauty products, this was the perfect time to change your mind. I received some items (the make-up removing wipes are AMAZING) and my mind was changed.

Chante serenading the crowd |
No event would be complete with entertainment. At the #DGBeauty event, we had beauty ambassador and hostess, Chante Moore sing for the crowd. Her voice . . . AMAZING! Chante was a vision of beauty and she graced the crowd with some of our favorite songs, including ‘Loves Taken Over‘. Can we gush about how cute Chante is? Like, dude, she’s so pretty! And so nice! She took pictures with so many of the event’s guests.
So let’s talk about the brands that were represented at the event. LA Colors was a big draw. The company specializes in providing budget-friendly cosmetics that are on trend. The LA Colors booth had tons of samples and cute make-up shaped cookies. Every time I walked by the booth, the line was long with excited attendees.
The Smooth ‘N Shine booth had celebrity hair stylist, Larry Sims, available to help ladies find the right styling product for their hair. Larry Sims has laid his hands on celebs like Tracee Ellis Ross, Zendaya, Gabrielle Union, and Mary J. Blige. He was actually doing hair on the spot! So fly! Every lady who sat in the chair came out looking like a super-star. Made me almost wish my hair wasn’t freshly done!
Soft Sheen-Carson sent the Let’s JAM! team to the event to show attendees how to use their updated products. I was quite intrigued about new ways to try Let’s JAM! products on my newly natural hair. It’s good to know that the products are available at Dollar General.
While at the #DGBeauty Event I learned that there were some exciting things going on at VIA Natural hair supply. The company, known for their natural hair oils, will be expanding their line of products this fall. No worries, the new products will be available at Dollar General as well.
Creme of Nature had one of the best booths at the event! Cupcakes, a henna tattoo artist, and a cool photobooth (see photos below) were all there, PLUS another celeb hair stylist to help you figure out how to use the company’s products. And once again, the company gave away full size samples to attendees. Pretty fly!
There were many more brands represented at the event. Maybeline, Lusters, Bronner Brothers, Curly Kids, and Kiss! cosmetics, were some of the brands featured. If you got a chance to attend, I know you came home with a bag full of surprises. Take a look at my collection above. I’m so happy to try all these products, I might have to get back to doing reviews on YouTube.
The Dollar General event was great! Hopefully the company does this event again. I know the ladies of Nashville will surely enjoy it!
