Hello October! Back to Blog Basics

Um, Hello October! How’d you sneak up on me? I’m happy to report that it was actually CHILLY last night. Oh yes! Fall weather is on the way to Tennessee. With the return of cool weather, that means less time out in the streets and fashion events start to die down as the holiday season gears up. This change allows me more time to focus on quality content.

It’s back to blog basics over here! I’m proud that I was able to put out FOUR videos on the VLOG this month, with MORE to come. I’ve posted three times a week on the website. And, I’ve successfully given y’all weekly newsletters! Listen, don’t even discount my posts on INSTAGRAM; I’ve been giving you LOOKS! So, expect more quality coming from FabGlance! I’ve finally found my grove and I’m not turning back.

So, what can you expect this month>

  • HBCU Homecoming Events – So, it’s my school’s Homecoming month and the start of college homecoming events across the US. You know I got a homecoming lookbook coming for you! Check out last year’s looks!
  • COLLABORATIONS – I have a collaboration coming up with FORM Beauty, Private Label Extensions, and some secret ones I can’t tell you about yet! Just make sure to read the blog to see what’s popping! Wanna partner with me? Check out my PARTNER PAGE then send me an email! I’d love to share your product/event with my readers.
  • 100 Days of Fitness – Yeah, I talked about it last month. Even made it to 14 days. Then, I had oral surgery, a bit of financial distress, and just overall stress, so I stopped. BUT you can always dust yourself off and try again! Let’s do it!
  • #ONEMILLIONFOLLOWERS – Yeah, I’m still on that! I’m on a quest to get One Million Followers across all social media platforms (combined)! Will you be my friend on Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, and YouTube?
    • I’m just shy of 10K across all platforms – lets get me 1000 more this month!

So, that’s what’s happening on Fabglance.com! What are your goals for the month of October? Let’s talk about it in the comments section!

SHOP: FabGlance Closet Sale

It’s time to shop . . . my closet! When you are a lifestyle and fashion blogger, you start to gain LOTS of clothes and accessories. Some items, I fall in love with IMMEDIATELY and I keep them forever. But some items, although cute, never make it to another wear. Happens to the best of us. So, it’s time to clean out my closet.

MY STYLE: Pre-Fall CHIC with Simply Be

We are in that wacky time between summer and fall. In fashion, we call this pre-fall. In my closet, we call this WAR! Living in Tennessee, but being from Massachusetts, I’m always at war with my fall sensibilities. I’m the person who is happy that Pumpkin Spice is back, ready to wear all the layers, and waiting for the first bonfire invite. But, even I know that we won’t get those TRUE fall temperatures until late October, maybe even November. Sigh.

That’s why, when I was contacted by Simply Be to review some of their plus-size looks, I was excited. Simply Be has an EXPANSIVE collection of items. Like, dude, theirs 100’s of looks! Their range of sizes are from 8-28, which is AWESOME! Also, their comment section, under each item, is very informative. The shoppers do a good job of sharing if an item worked for them, it’s quality, and value.

Below, I share the three pieces I received from Simply Be. This is a sponsored post, but I’m gonna keep it ALL the way real with you. I hate to waste money, and I’d hate you to waste money too. Lets get it:

MY STYLE: One last white dress for the season

I’ve been blogging for like 17 million years, so I have about 49,000 posts about Wearing White After Labor Day. So, when I realized I hadn’t worn this CUTE dress from Ashley Stewart, it inspired me to write about the topic again. So, are we or are we NOT wearing white after Labor Day? Let’s discuss.

Last month, I got to attend the TCFStyle Expo presented by Marie Denee of The Curvy Fashionista. This plus-size style convention is held annually in Atlanta (one of my fave cities!). It’s part shopping event and part motivational event. This was the second year, and from what I heard, it was BIGGER and better than ever. Guess what? I vlogged! Yes, and there’s a whole video on my YouTube Channel, but you can watch below!

Have you attended a plus-size meet-up? Well, I’m hosting one in Nashville in October! The Nashville Curves Plus Size Meet-Up is gonna be our chance to present amazing curvy confidence in Nashville! Pre-sale tickets are available NOW! Let’s get excited!

MY STYLE: Do It Afraid!

Hola Fab Family! Welcome! Stretch out and walk around; do you see anything you like? Why, yes, yes we do have a new site design! And is it FABULOUS! The whole experience is a metaphor in how my life is going right now: DO IT, DO IT AFRAID, You’ll be ok! So this week’s MY STYLE post is all about how, even with fear you can do something fab!

For the last year I have been lamenting on how to make FABGLANCE.COM more fabulous. Truth be told, my coins are limited and all the great web designers I called, wanted BIG BUCKS (no whammies).  I tried to redo the design on my own, but my mind would freeze. I didn’t have the patience to take eight years worth of content to a new spot. If  you blog, you know that migrating content is a coin toss. You could lose EVERYTHING, jack up your analytics, and/or end up killing everyone around you.

MY LIFE: 25 Random Things About Me

Hola Fab Family! Sorry for the lack of posts. I had a family emergency I had to deal with. Family comes before posts. After the family was secure I thought I’d give you guys a YouTube video and a style post. Yay, a two for one special! Let’s get into it:

I thought these cheerful photos, taken by D. Brown Photography, were the perfect greeting for summer. I’m so happy that the 90’s fashions are on trend. Listen, that was my time and I can now flourish properly (cuz I’m a grown-up and I have money). This overall style dress from ASOS and cute striped shirt set the town for our shoot in East Nashville.

I just shared that the 90’s were my favorite season of fashion, so I thought I’d share 25 Random Things About me on my YouTube channel! It was kinda hard to come up with 25 facts about myself, but the video came out really fun. So far, I’ve had a couple people surprised by my facts. In the video I shared that my favorite food is chocolate chip cookies and my that I love being the tallest woman in the room.

So, check out my newest video and if you haven’t subscribed, make sure to subscribe to my channel. I post new video every week! Of course I talk about fashion, but I vlog too. You can now experience a new leve of the Fabglance lifestyle – I’m just fun! LOL!

MY STYLE: When you wear a $60 dress to see Zac Posen

Buy this dress at Belk – Click here

I’ve attended the Nashville Symphony Fashion Show for the past three years. Every year I stress about what to wear. This is a very FANCY event and one of the marked events on Nashville’s social calendar. Listen, attendees SHOW-UP and show out for this event. I love watching the designs, only seen in magazines or on runways, be worn by Nashville’s fashionable residents. That’s why I’m always a bit intimidated when deciding what to wear to this event.

But thanks to using my gut, I found a cute look for a very low price. Check it:

Dress by Julian Taylor, purchased at K&G Fashion –  purchase here

I scored this adorable cocktail dress from K&G Fashion! I know, right! K&G isn’t a store you’d think to shop at for a look. The store is very unassuming and even the website doesn’t give you much to go on. But the K&G store in Nashville is plenty large. The selection is  . . . interesting, but you’d have to have a keen eye to find what you want. Luckily, I did the hard work for you. This Julian Taylor dress is available at Belk.

With most of the attendants wearing designer labels, it’s crazy to know that I found a cute dress for less than $100. No matter what other’s are wearing, as long as you feel comfortable and gorgeous in your look it doesn’t matter. That’s why I could wear a $50 dress to see one of the best designers of 2017. Never be embarrassed when you know you look your best (and you saved some coins).

MY STYLE: Making Necessary Changes

Loving these shots from the Frist Center, it’s such a beautiful building

Change is coming, and it’s coming sooner than I’d planned. I can’t go into the details because it’s not all the way finished, but expect something exciting. Change is super scary. Let me tell you. Even when you plan it out to the most minute detail, just pushing the button to make the change is STILL scary. This post, though, is about the glory of change and making that change in style.

Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” – Harriet Tubman

Whenever things start changing, remember it’s usually because you prayed for something to change. Just think about it; this change is happening because God knows you’re ready for this challenge. Yes, change is a challenge! But when it’s all done, boy you feel so much better. You are much stronger, and you realize, “Dang, I shoulda done this a long time again!”

Trust me, you can do this! You got this!

Now let’s get into the style. Somebody said, you gotta dress for where you WANT to go, not for where you’re at. This look is all about being a BOSS. I’m getting closer to being my own boss than I’ve ever been (hint-hint). So, when I received this cardigan from Limonda Couture, I originally wear it with some jeans. But, I wanted to go with a professional boss look. I think it came out really cute! I never get to wear these types of looks often, because my job is so casual, so I was really into this look.

This cardigan is so comfortable and can be worn with so many different ways. I love the length and the design. For this look, I paired it with a black bodycon dress from Rebdolls and shoes from Nordstrom Rack (yes they have size 12 women’s shoes)! The looks was super simple to pul together, but packs a big punch. It’s a fave.

So, stay tuned for some announcements. I swear, life can be crazy, but if you stand still and let God work it doesn’t seem so bad. Change is necessary. Change is good!
