Last week I posted about stepping outside my style box. I’m glad I did! Today’s look, this mixed pattern, black & white, work look was just right for my workday. Seriously, I was super scared to rock this look – it’s pretty bold. But once the team at Jessica London sent this month’s looks, I knew I HAD to wear this one ASAP! These pieces … Continue reading MY STYLE: Mixing Patterns with plus-size style
How many of my plus-size girls have been told what you SHOULDN’T WEAR? No tight, no stripes, no shorts, or cover your ‘problem’ areas! Yes, even in 2019 fat women are told what we should wear and how we should wear it. Even though I have my preferences, I’ll never tell anyone what they shouldn’t wear. Unless you aren’t wearing confidence, I have nothing to … Continue reading PLUS SIZE STYLE: Fat girls shouldn’t wear … summer edit
I quit my job two years ago to chase my dream. I wanted to be a full time creative: blogger, author, and digital content creator. I failed, we’ve discussed. I went back to the regular working world. My return wasn’t glorious; it was needed and necessary. Why? I was broke and broken.
Having a regular job (working for someone else) gives me structure and a paycheck. But it didn’t change my attitude. Many times I’ve showed up late or not ready to be my best at work. I didn’t want to be THERE, and it showed.
Happy first day of summer good people! Getting back on the wagon of giving you a new blogpost every week and adding a special touch, sending out a newsletter as well.
Yes, I’m going back to sending my bi-weekly newsletter as a way of keeping in contact with my diverse group of readers. As a strategist, I preach consistency. As a blogger, I haven’t been very consistent. “‘fess it, and fix it!” is what my old boss used to say, so here I am confessing.
My confession: I didn’t care about my newsletter I only cared about Instagram.
On Tuesday, May 14th, the Nashville Symphony presented their annual fashion show. This year brought the return of designs by Carolina Herrera under the creative direction of Wes Gordon. Gordon’s youthful injection to the fashion house is a welcome addition to the classic Herrera story. I was pleasantly surprised at trendy neon presentations, an elegant mix of volume vs. length, plus playful nods to ladylike silhouettes.

Last Friday, the streets were buzzing with news that Instagram was testing a feature that would remove likes from posts. THE HORROR! How are we to know if everyone is lusting over our new sneakers, amazing vacation, cute bae, or bangin’ outfit?
The Top Five platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and Youtube) all use some sort of ‘like’ system as a way to show engagement from followers. To imagine a world without am IMMEDIATE response to online content is tricky (and almost unheard of). What does this mean for actual blogger-influencers who report those stats to brands? How would we mesure our influence?
Let’s get down to the nitty-gritty. A spokesperson from Instagram said that, they are “Exploring ways to reduce pressure on Instagram . . .” and it, “is something we’re always thinking about.” However, removing likes isn’t happening anytime soon. Instagram is still trying to get rid of FAKE likes and companies who sell non-organic engagement. So, like, put down you torches and pitchforks, calm down, and keep reading. Because, if the option is being discussed, that means changes ARE coming.
