MY STYLE: New Job – New Look

Oh did you hear? I got a new job! And it’s at my alma-mater, Tennessee State University. I’m so excited to return to the place that set my foundation. But, with any new endeavor, I’m always thinking about my style. I’m always ready to change it up to give myself a new VIBE!

Shout out to the team at Jessica London for sponsoring my ‘back to work’ look! My previous job was in the non-profit world – very laid back and very casual. Seriously, if I wore heels to work, it was a big deal. Now, don’t get me wrong, I LOVE some casual looks. But I love being able to add a bit of flare too. Now, working at college, I feel the need to step up my game. Students come to me for guidance and I hope I can stylishly lead them.

Is dating in Nashville a lost cause?

After attending the recent event, ‘Single in the Ville’, sponsored by Nashville’s newest publication, Nashville Voice I was almost convinced that dating in Nashville was a lost cause.

The Nashville Voice is the city’s newest African-American news publication.  The online news source discusses Nashville news from an black perspective. On Tuesday, at The Lab Nashville, the publication hosted a women-only event aimed at breaking the code of dating in the city. Moderated by Markeith Braden (entrepreneur + success coach), the event asked attendees open-ended questions about their dating experiences in Nashville.

MOTIVATION: Through failure, I found faith!

Last week, I felt the sting of FAILURE. I wrote about it on Instagram. This week I sing the song of FAITH! MY LIFE: Why I choose therapy for my anxiety and depression

Life is hard right now. Actually my life has been fairly difficult for the last four years. I hint at my struggles here & there. But, knowing the internet is an open forum for petty parades, I keep my business close to me. However, therapy saved me from death and I thought I’d share my journey. Therapy helped me realize that you should always plant seeds of courage, confidence, and motivation so they can bloom during your darkest days. It’s why I stay positive, it’s why I blog.

Last year I went to therapy because I was having intense suicidal thoughts. Life had really gotten the best of me. In the past four years I was hit with a wave of horrible; some of it my fault, some just coincidence, all of it bad. I’m a Christian, and even the Bible advises us to SEEK GOOD COUNSEL And that’s what I did.

A super quick Halloween look!

Halloween always sneaks up on me! Always! Probably because I didn’t grow up celebrating a traditional Halloween in my religious house. We went to church nights, dressed up as ‘safe’ characters, and enjoyed autumn themed games. No shade, I still had fun (and got candy). Now days, the CREATIVITY that goes into costumes blows me away. From celebs to friends going on bar crawls, the … Continue reading A super quick Halloween look!
